MoistureShield® Composite Decking helps Children's Charity Raise $40,000

Company donates decking for Northwest Arkansas CASA "Playhouse Palooza" fundraiser

Springdale, Ark., April 10, 2013 - What have you done with your decking lately? MoistureShield is going beyond the backyard deck to help children in the Northwest Arkansas Community through CASA. CASA of Northwest Arkansas hosted their 10th Annual Playhouse Palooza Construction Bash on Saturday, April 13, where they auctioned more than 100 items, including four extravagant playhouses. The event raised nearly $40,000 for CASA's programs for abused and neglected children.

High resolution version.

These playhouses were not your typical mini Victorian or tree house; they were ultra-creative projects that brought companies in the community together to complete them. Partnering with Central States Manufacturing, MoistureShield composite decking donated decking to be used on the multi-story "Not So Roughing It" high-tech camping casa. That playhouse raised the most funds with a winning bid of $5,700. The other houses, including a Pirate Ship, modern Studio Mini and Tolkien-Inspired Cabin, raised close to $10,000 together.

Playhouses aren't what they used to be; the "Not So Roughing It" playhouse includes an installed entertainment system with an interconnected iPad, flat panel TV, Blu-Ray player and audio system with subwoofer for an awesome game or movie experience. Despite the appeal of its flashy electronics, the best part of this two-story dream house is it will last some lucky child (or parent) a lifetime with its durable composite decking and metal siding. Splinter-free MoistureShield composite decking is not only ideal for decks and docks, but also play structures like this playhouse since it resists moisture and insects, making it safe for children and durable enough to last a lifetime.

"This community has been very good to us, and we're happy to give back, especially knowing it's going to such a dedicated organization that is working tirelessly to bring smiles to children in need," said Brent Gwatney, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for MoistureShield.

CASA, a Court Appointed Special Advocate, speaks up for the best interests of children in courts with the goal of moving each child in foster care to a safe, permanent home. All proceeds from the Playhouse Palooza benefit abused and neglected children in the Northwest Arkansas community by providing trained volunteer advocates. Because of fundraisers like this one and dedicated supporters, CASA of Northwest Arkansas was able to improve the lives of 411 children in 2012 and hopes to reach more than 450 in 2013.
