The Low Down on Low Maintenance
MoistureShield decks do not require staining, sealing or painting. Which is good considering you've probably never said, "I can't wait to stain my deck!" However, like the dishes, carpet, your car, windows, bowling trophy, hair, skin (see where we're going with this), they do require some routine cleaning to keep them looking and smelling great. All composites do.
The Meatloaf is Moldy?!?!
Of course it is. You let it sit on the counter for a month. But what you won't do is let dirt, mud or grease sit on your deck for long because it could mold, too. You should also know that even composites designed to resist mold and mildew can still mold if boards are not spaced correctly. Fungus can grow on dirt that has built up in between the boards. But don't worry. It's the dirt, not the deck, that causes the mold to form. If the deck is properly built, a little periodic cleaning as directed can eliminate mold's ugly face. And to help you out, we've incorporated antimicrobial additives into the deck for additional protection.
There's One Good Reason We Use Recycled Plastic
Bottom line, it's better for the environment. It saves energy, reduces greenhouse gases, cuts waste, conserves resources and creates jobs. Plus, it's better for you. Our unique process of cleaning, pre-heating and mixing wood fiber and polyethylene allows MoistureShield to withstand some of the harshest environmental conditions. The perfect mix of high density and low density polyethylene is what makes MoistureShield tough while still being easy to assemble.
OK so we lied. There's a ton of reasons.
Will My Deck Outlive Me?
Yes. Unless you've discovered the Fountain of Youth, or some incredible anti-aging pill. If so, please email us at CustomersFirst@MoistureShield.com. But really, MoistureShield has been tested under some of the toughest environmental conditions and comes backed by a limited lifetime warranty which is a guarantee against rot, splintering and decay. And don't forget that our warranty is more than twice the length of most competitors.
But Most Importantly
At A.E.R.T., we are dedicated to producing high-quality, non-toxic building components using reclaimed fibers and recycled plastics. Since 1988, we've invested heavily in technology and infrastructure dedicated to cleaning, blending and upgrading recycled plastic materials. We will not use any recycled plastics in our process until they have been cleaned, heat sterilized, blended and reformulated into specific ranges for physical properties.
For the last 20 years, our focus has been to satisfy our customers and do the right thing while making a positive impact on the environment we live in. We hope you enjoy our product. Please remember to always deck responsibly.
