MoistureShield® Decking is proud to re-introduce its organic cedar material – marking the 20th year in production. The Juniper Collection is composed of heartwood cedar fibers from Juniper Mexicana, or Texas Cedar, and recycled polyethylene plastics. For many years, Texas has had to eradicate acres and acres of Juniper trees due to the amount of water they extract from the aquifer which has lead to shortages of water and grazing grasses for wildlife as well as drinking water for the state's growing population. In the manufacturing process, we use this discarded Juniper wood which was slated for burning and blend it with recycled plastics such as milk jugs, plastic grocery sacks and detergent bottles which would otherwise last for hundreds of years in landfills. The result is a natural, earth-friendly composite wood decking material with the strength, durability and beauty of all MoistureShield composite materials. And because of the wood's natural resistance to pests and mildews, the Juniper Collection does not contain mildewcides or insecticides.
